You call THAT a birthday???

“Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday…” oh, dear.

That’s the most often sung song in the world. If that song coupled with a Hostess Cupcake, is enough of a celebration for you or your loved one, this blog and the resulting contest is going to sound excessive. But if you wish you could come up with a more unusual birthday party theme for someone you love, welcome to my brain, welcome to Alison’s Brain4Rent.

In honor of absolutely nothing, Alison’s Brain4Rent is conducting a “Birthday Theme” contest. I love birthdays, mine and others, and I love to brainstorm grand or small parties. The process is similar to baking a cake, drawing from my experience “pantry” – a marketing background that enables me to identify the honoree’s preferences and habits, years of event conceptualizing and realization, a splash of drama (theater background and scholarship), tempered by expert negotiation skills. Blend and let cook til it springs back when pressed. And voila a party that projects a fabulous year whether it’s his/her 50th or 5th or any age between or beyond.

So, was anyone out there born without the creative gene or the time needed to come up with a variety of options for a child’s or adult’s, (human or animal) birthday party? This Brain4Rent brainstorming session, is rent-free for one lucky winner. In the comment area of this blog using 100 words or fewer, describe why you want a special, themed birthday party and a little bit about the birthday honoree (age, interests and venue). I will pick the finalists and let the readers vote on the winner. Share the love, and forward this blog to anyone who might need a creative jumpstart. DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: November 1, 2010 at 11:59pm. Contest is open to personal birthday parties only. The winner will receive three (3) party theme options and some “how to’s”.

And if you feel that singing your birthday wishes is enough, at least consider expanding your repertoire with these options:

  1. Hey there,
I want to plan a 75th bday party for my MIL. I’m thinking either 40 people, or just a dozen immediate family members, but a more “upscale” affair. The problem is, she is an expert cook, decorater, hostess…. so how to live up to her own standards??? Why we want to do this? She’s the only grandparent our kids still have, and she has done so much for all of us. We want to honor both her longevity and her character.
